The Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, updated in a press release that a written complaint was received about the incident on June 9, following which the Women Police Station took up the case and an investigation was initiated immediately through a team led by SDPO, HQ under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]As per the investigation, the incident happened in the morning of June 8 while the victim was in the school premises, so the school authorities, staff and student were summoned to the Women PS on Saturday. “Forensics samples have been collected for scientific evidence as per standard investigation procedures,” read the press release.
Meanwhile, following request for a test identification parade (TIP) of some suspects by the victim and her parents, the exercise was conducted in the presence of the judicial magistrate, child welfare committee member and women leaders on Saturday, said the update.

After the completion of TIP, “based on the report of the committee, a request was made to Judicial magistrate for granting permission to take the identified suspect accused into custody”, it said.
‘The suspect accused, who has been taken into custody, is also minor and therefore taking due care, necessary procedures are being completed,’ said the police, adding that investigation is on “to bring the case to early logical conclusion and deliver justice to the victim”.
