Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): Cooperative societies in Zunheboto district will be on to recover loans from borrowers the action of which include even going door to door.
This is one of the action plans that a cooperative union in the district has decided to take, updates on Thursday stated.
The department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) offered updates on May 17 about the development.
Officials of the cooperative societies and associated establishments who were in the meeting resolved on a number of resolutions to recover loans. Members of the Zunheboto district co-operative societies union (ZDCSU) are said to have conducted a 'joint emergency meeting' on May 14 in Zunheboto.
An advisor to the ZDCSU, Nikheto Zhimo was stated to have informed the members about the revision of the Integrated Cooperative Development Programme (ICDP) in Zunheboto district.
The union's leader said that initiatives were being taken by the Agricultural and Co-operation Minister G Kaito Aye to promote the cooperative societies in the district where the scheme 'could not be implemented in a proper manner.'
Further, Zhimo was stated to have 'conveyed a message' extended by "RCS Kohima" requesting the previous ICDP beneficiaries to recover loans "so as to avail it again in the upcoming revision of ICDP scheme in Zunheboto district."
The assistant registrar of cooperative societies for Zunheboto Orenthung Zami was stated to have requested the ZDCSU members to coordinate with the department. The objective is to make the recovery of loans 'practically possible,' according to the IPR.
A number of resolutions were adopted during the meeting. The cooperative societies have resolved to "move for door to door recovery" of ICDP loans. They have appealed to the beneficiaries to 'recover loans' in order 'to avail more benefits,' the IPR stated.
The groups also resolved that all the members of the ZDCSU, "BODs and advisors" would coordinate with the ARCS and the Zunheboto branch of the Nagaland State Co-operative Bank in the loan recovery programme.
Further, the members resolved to appeal to the managing director of the NSCB at Dimapur through the senior manager of the NSCB of Zunheboto to authorise "drawal" of urban housing loan money at the Zunheboto branch of the NSCB.
This move is especially for beneficiaries having accounts at Zunheboto, the updates stated.
