Mokokchung, Jan. 5: Zungamedem and Rainbow CC won their respective matches on the third day of the MDCA Inter Club T20 cricket tournament played at Imkongmeren Sports complex. Zungamedem took on Longmiasang and Rainbow CC with Suzerain CC.
In the first match having won the toss and electing to bat first, Longmiasang managed to put up just 94 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.Zungamedem could have easily restricted their opponent but for their sloppy fielding and dropped catches they conceded 24 runs in extras.
Tsuknungmeren top scored with 23 runs and Bendangwapang contributed 20 runs. For Zungamedem Temjentoshi picked up 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs and Bendangwapang took 2/18 in 4 overs . Chasing the target Zungamedem CC overcame it in just 11.4 overs losing 2 wickets and winning the match by 8 wickets.Bendangwapang top scored with an unbeaten 30 runs and Rongsenyanger giving him the much needed support with an unbeaten 22 runs. Sashilong was the only successful bowler with a figure of 1/38 runs in 4 overs. The only other wicket to fall came in the form of a run out.
MDCA INTER CLUB T20 CRICKET TOURNAMENT
In the second match of the day, Rainbow CC beat Suzerain CC by 27 runs. Batting first, Rainbow CC scored a competitive total of 133 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Talikaba and Temjen scored 44 and 43 runs.For Suzerain CC Temsulong and Lanu were the only wicket takers with figures of 1/19 and 1/16 respectively.
Chasing the target Suzerain CC got off to a flying start with Wangshi (25 runs) sending the ball to all parts of the ground that included two huge sixes. But after his unnecessary run out, Suzerain team lost all momentum and finished at 106 all out in 18.3 overs.
Alemjungshi was the best bowler for Rainbow CC with 3 wickets conceding only 15 runs in 4 overs. Limawapang and Viza took 2 wickets each. Tomorrow the match between 9 times Champion Brotherhood and tournament’s first timer Gorkha student union promises to be an exciting match as both the teams are among the few to be considered as favourites to lift the cup.
