Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): Just two days after the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) issued a statement to the media that it decided to merge with the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) to help secure better future for Zeliangrong people, the group that is not party to this merger has termed the claim as “absolutely without any concrete basis”.
The ZUF group that has not joined NNPGs has, through a press release, accused the “defectors” of deliberate misinformation and creating confusion.
“The claim that staying away from the ‘peace process’ closes the door for ‘future scope’ for Zeliangrong people is a timid understanding of conflict and negotiation process. The statement reflects the lack of vision, courage and confidence in the Zeliangrong issues that has to uphold at any cost (sic),” read the statement.
“The Zeliangrong United Front will not bow down dictated by any undemocratic terms and conditions in the name of Naga Peace process or solution,” it said, adding that the defected group is following the terms and conditions dictated by RN Ravi.
The group has claimed that ‘the defected cadres of ZUF led by Raitu Chawang have completely sold out the genuine issue of Zeliangrong people and they have no moral authority to use the good name of ZUF or people’s mandate to speak about Zeliangrong and their issues any longer from the day they merged with the NNPG or GPRN/NSCN (U).’
‘The Zeliangrong United Front solemnly declares that we will continue to pursue the dreams and aspiration of Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu of Zeliangrong people to live a single political administrative unit until our last breath. Therefore, the ZUF once again appeals to all the Zeliangrong community and its kindred tribe to extend its fullest cooperation and work together to fulfil our long cherish dream to interpret into reality,’ it said.
