Sechü Zubza, June 1 (EMN): As part of its “Year of sanitation and plantation” program, the Sechü Zubza Youth Organisation (SZYO) organised a plantation drive today.
On the day, volunteers planted trees in and around the village’s jurisdiction. Village leaders and school students from various institutions also participated in the day’s programme.
A brief programme was held prior before the plantation drive which was also attended by officials from the department of Land Resources and the SDO (civil) of Sechü Zubza, among others.
In his address to the people of Sechü Zubza, Benjamin, additional director of Land Resources, while stating that the village is placed in an ideal location between Kohima and Dimapur, he urged the villagers to make the best use of the opportunity given to them and further take advantage of the geographical location they are blessed with.
Speaking about his admiration on the geographical location of the village, he also encouraged the villagers to push for promoting tourism, which he felt will immensely help the economy of the village in the long run. He particularly encouraged the villagers to concentrate on agro tourism and eco tourism.
He also stressed on the need for skill development, however, he told the youths to emphasize more on land oriented skills. He cited examples where people become socially misfit when their skills are urban centric and not land oriented.

“For the success of the government’s schemes, it depends a lot on the close coordination of the government, individual and organisations,” he stated.
DPO of Land Resources, Kohima, Dr Menuosetuo Tseikha sought the cooperation of the villagers, while he assured for government’s assistance and support in all possible way.
Participating in the plantation programme, the government officials also planted a tree each in the premises of the Sechü Zubza Village Council hall.
