workshop in Kohima on Thursday.
- DIMAPUR — In a
landmark initiative, Zublee Foundation, in partnership with North Eastern
Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi), successfully conducted Nagaland’s
first-ever grassroots-level workshops on deceased organ donation under Project
VARDAAN (Chapter IV).
- Held at the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and
Research (NIMSR) in Kohima on Thursday, the initiative was set to transform
perceptions and encouraged life-saving conversations around organ donation in
the state, stated an update from Zublee Foundation.
- It stated that with organ donation awareness still in its
early stages in Nagaland, the workshop served as a crucial step toward
fostering understanding and acceptance of the cause.
- It mentioned that Project VARDAAN, a CSR initiative by
NEDFi, has been instrumental in bridging the knowledge gap across the Northeast
region, empowering communities with the right information.
- Priyanka Borah, CEO of Zublee Foundation, has termed the
initiative a “proud moment” and emphasised that the journey to making organ
donation a widely accepted practice begins with informed discussions at the
grassroots.
- Notably, it stated that Professor Dr. Soumya Chakraborty,
dean and director of NIMSR, has already pledged her organs and tissues for donation,
further inspiring students and faculty members alike.
- The report stated that NIMSR has also introduced student-led
field activities to create sustained awareness in the region.
- It further stated that Zublee Foundation remains committed
to expanding this movement. The team of Zublee Foundation, including Diksha
Kashyap, project coordinator of office head, and Dharitri Nath, field
coordinator, is planning to hold additional workshops in the coming weeks to
further extend the impact of this life-saving initiative.
