DIMAPUR — The Zeliang Students' Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has condemned the physical assault and abuse of a Zeliang officer, Keyirangding Hegui, additional deputy commissioner, Peren, on October 21 at Jalukie 'B' village.
In a condemnation note, the ZSUN alleged that it was carried out by ‘a bunch of drunk and disorderly youths’ and stated that the undesirable behaviour has damaged the image of the community's youth and students as a whole.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]It has appealed that the perpetrators be punished for their offence in accordance with the law of the land.
PGEU: Peren Government Employees' Union (PGEU) has also condemned the ‘man-handling’ of Hegui, one of its members, while he was passing through National Highway 129 (A), Jalukie 'B' village, by youths of the said village in inebriated condition.
The PGEU said in a statement that the ‘blatant irresponsible action is not acceptable in a civilised and peace-loving society’, and that the act should be condemned by all.
It has also appealed to the law-enforcing agencies to accord befitting punishment as per the provisions of the law and deliver justice at the earliest.
