ZSUD holds prog for civil service aspirants

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28: WITH the objective to produce successful candidates in civil service examinations from Zeliangrong community in the coming years, Zeliangrong Students’ Union Delhi (ZSUD) successfully organised a one day interaction programme on career choice at Constitution Club of India, Speaker Hall, New Delhi, on August 20. The programme was attended by the Zeliangrong students in Delhi with six panelists from different fields. Speaking on the occasion, T Pamei, IAS, asked the participants to reduce any activities that come in the way of their studies. He opinionated on the problems of cultural attributes which accounted largely responsible for low level of professional/career achievement among the students and suggested the need for paradigm shift. He said we are excess into the influence of cultural attributes like groupism, clanism, priority to one’s own village etc and indirectly preventing us from achieving goals. He even offered to assist the students financially if they require study centres for the preparation. Dr. Kamei Aphun, Senior Assistant Professor, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, on the other hand made a strong argument on the importance of education and its role in liberating an individual and society at large. GG Kamei, IRS, enlightened the gathering on several career options available and reminded them to “start young and start early.” She also spoke on several practical steps in choosing one’s career. Dr. Meijinlung Dhangmei, Attending Consultant at Fortis Escorts, New Delhi, spoke on the career options available in the medical field and pointed out several essential guidelines for effective and productive studies for getting through any competitive exams. G Machunlung Kamei, IRS, spoke on practical approach on three most important factors for one’s success- One has to work hard, motivate oneself and assess one’s work to be successful. Timothy Tajonang Gonmei, IRPS, stressed on the need to apply “Five minds for the future” to become successful in this 21st Century. According to him, the good work and five minds are the principles of life. Five minds included (i) Disciplinary mind (ii) Synthesising mind (iii) Creative mind (iv) Respectful mind and (v) Ethical mind. He further advised the gathering to pursue studies seriously and to be an expert in one area if they desire to become a successful person. Besides the speeches, there was a lively interaction. ZSUD president, Mathiuchunbou Rimai, in his welcome address, encouraged the students to be always a part of the union and not to forget their society.
