DIMAPUR — The
Zhadima Students’ Union (ZSU) held its biennial day on December 18 at the
Zhadima community hall with Neiyalie Pfüsenuo, treasurer of Nagaland Olympics
Association (NOA), as the keynote speaker. The Zhadima Heritage Club (ZHC) was
also launched on the theme “Honouring our past, shaping our future.”
In his address, Pfüsenuo highlighted the critical role of
education in shaping the future of individuals and society at large. He
highlighted how education serves as the foundation for personal growth,
professional success and societal progress.
Pfüsenuo urged the student
community to view academic education as more than a mere requirement but as an
opportunity to unlock their potential. He stressed the need for students to
approach their studies with seriousness, diligence and a sense of purpose.
He inspired students to adopt a determined mindset and
maintain unwavering focus on their goals. He explained that with determination
and clear focus, students could overcome challenges, achieve their aspirations
and contribute meaningfully to society.
He reminded them to remember the importance of giving back,
urging them to become agents of positive change in their communities, thereby
creating a ripple effect of progress and development.
Pfüsenuo also encouraged young students with athletic
potential to diligently refine their sports skills while keeping education a
priority. He stressed the importance of balancing academic pursuits with
athletic aspirations by highlighting that both are essential for holistic
growth and success.
Recognising the rising focus on sports in Nagaland, he
pointed out the state’s untapped potential in the sector and encouraged the
students to seize the opportunities available and excel in their chosen fields.
He also urged the youth to uphold values by showing respect
and honour to elders, emphasising that such virtues bring blessings and
strengthen communal harmony.
Besides, he also highlighted the significance of preserving
linguistic heritage, and called upon the younger generation to actively learn
and use Tenyidie.
While lauding on the launch of Zhadima Heritage Club (ZHC),
he described it as a vital organisation dedicated to safeguarding, nurturing,
and promoting the community’s rich heritage.
He encouraged the community to rally around the Club’s
initiatives and urged them to actively contribute to its mission of preserving
its culture and ensuring that the legacy is passed down to future generations.
Neilalhoulie Soliezuo, chairman of the Zhadima village council,
emphasised the importance of discipline and obedience as key virtues for
success in life.
ZSU president, Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü, shed light on the
various initiatives undertaken by the ZSU to uplift and empower the student
community. Loucü also elaborated on two key projects initiated by the student
body- the introduction of the ZSU presidential scholarship, an initiative aimed
at encouraging academic excellence by awarding scholarships to two deserving
students each year, and the launch of the Zhadima Heritage Club, a project
dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the community.
Vizosielie Khoubve, a member of the ZHC drafting committee,
provided a detailed overview of the club's vision and mission during its
launch. The activities of the club would include preserving traditional
practices, artifacts, stories for future generations, conducting research and
recording the village's historical and cultural narratives and organising
events to educate the community about their heritage.
The Head GB, Kedilezo M Keditsu, officially announced the
new team of ZSU for the tenure 2025-26 with Mhasizolie Metsieo as president.
During the programme, the logo of the club and a music video
titled “Zhadizou Geizo” was also launched by the keynote speaker. Renowned
Tenyidie singer Visetuo Chüpuo, Kikruvinuo Sanchu and the Kimho Khel enthralled
the audience with musical and folk performances.
