Dimapur, May 8 (EMN): Zeliang People’s Organization Nagaland (ZPON) has expressed dismay over the alleged attempt of the new PDA government to divert the Special Road Development Programme (SRDP) fund 2017-18, which were approved on February 3.
ZPON, in a joint press statement issued by its president Kezin Zeliang and the general secretary Kerang Dumtta, alleged that the proposed diversion attempt made available by the Chief Engineer (PWD) office included four projects under Peren district, which are very important and genuine needs of the district.
With the much hyped ‘Change is coming’ slogan, it stated that the people of Peren district too was looking forward for positive developmental changes from the new government. However, it lamented that the first change in Peren district had come as a ‘big blow,’ which has dashed the hope of the people of Peren district.
The ZPON has demanded to know on what ground and criteria the four projects were proposed to be diverted. The four projects for Peren district selected under SRDP 2017-18 proposed to be diverted are :-

ZPON stated that the alleged proposed diversion of fund would have negative precedence for the state, which was expected from a popular government. ZPON urged upon the government to honour and respect the decision already taken earlier so that common men do not lose faith in the system of government.
Stating that diversion of the four projects from Peren, if effected, would deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Peren district, ZPON has urged the government of the day should think twice before proposing for such diversion.
