DIMAPUR, JUNE 22: Pigued by continued tirades over TR Zeliang’s qualification in media, Zeliang Peoples’ Organization (N) today said, being the apex Zeliang tribal organization, it is compelled to intervene the paper war between NPF and Congress party which is going beyond limit.
The ZPO alleged that the complainants have lost their patriotism and working at the behest of their political master from other community.
ZPO president Kiezen Zeliang said, the case is in the court and it will decide who is right and who is wrong.
“Is it for the love of the Zeliangs that they are trying to bring down TR Zeliang from the seat of Chief Minister? Any Zeliang going against the welfare of his own community is highly condemnable. And that too, betraying one’s own community for settling personal grudges is not at all acceptable.”
The ZPO said, “Whether T R Zeliang is a graduate or an under matriculate the whole Zeliang community stand behind him for his vision and development and will continue to do so as long as he managed to occupy important seat and work for the welfare of his community. But for those few Zeliang individuals who are being blinded by other tribes to betray his own community, a day will come when the whole Zeliang will judge you for going against your own brother.”
Recounting the initial days when TR Zeliang was elected, the ZPO said, “It came as a surprise to the whole Nagas particularly the Zeliang community when TR Zeliang was elected to take over the reign of chief ministership from Neiphui Rio who chose to go to Delhi as Lok Sabha member.”
“Never had there been any CM from Zeliang community nor can we expect any in the next few decades, so the Zeliangs were looking forward to reap the benefit of this good fortune. However, some few individuals from our own community blinded by some political opportunists from the advanced tribes are trying to bring down the present government by making a ‘big’ issue out of a ‘non-issue’.”
“Qualification has got nothing to do in winning an election or winning the confidence of the electorates, so nobody bothered whether TR Zeliang is a graduate or a post graduate or under-matriculate. It is for the love of him and his developmental activities that made the electorates of Peren district vote him to power for the 6th times to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.”
