Kohima, May 4 (EMN): A two-day management ‘Zoommax Fest,’ organised by the School of Management Studies, Nagaland University, in association with the National Institute for Civil Services Examination (NICSE), culminated on Wednesday at RCEMPA in Jotsoma village.
Addressing students at the closing ceremony, an extra assistant commissioner (EAC) of Phek, Wetsho Lasushe, encouraged young people to be ready to face challenges and circumstances that come their way. He believed that the ‘Zoommax Fest’ has provided a platform for them to learn and excel in life.
Speaking on the theme 'Ocean of creativity', he felt that the event would had served as a platform and enable them propel to achieve success in life. He stated that creativity could help an individual sustain life although he/ she might be uneducated.
“Look beyond government services and venture out into other avenues. Be passionate about what you do so that you get job satisfaction. It may be a big challenge but hard work and dedication will take us there,” he told the gathering.
The officer further encouraged the students not to be afraid of making mistakes in life as that would teach them lessons.
The vice president of NICSE and co-founder of Smartcoach, Rashida Tapadar said, “One cannot profile creativity in a fixed narrative as it is a possibility that can happen at any stage of life. One has to learn how to identify and turn it into a reality and that’s when transformation takes place.”
Participating in the panel discussion, she said there are brilliant educational institutions across the Northeast region but are "very theoretical" and "bookish." She stated that students passing out from those institutions are not able to get jobs because they could not pass interviews. She felt that communication skills and how to appear for interviews should be taught in institutions.
Founder and CEO of Été Coffee, Lichan Humtsoe, while participating in the panel discussion, stated that the state earned a reputation for sending the "worst" members of the family into the business.
Chairman and MD of NICSE and Smartcoach, Suman Saha, advised the students not to get into entrepreneurship if they want comfort in life.
‘Once you decide to become an entrepreneur, every moment you have to invest your thoughts into ideas and plan for proper planning,’ he said.
‘If your life involves the theory that one learns from formal education, you can never be a successful entrepreneur. You have to formulate your own theory and do something new,' he added.
Noting that many good businesspersons from Nagaland failed in marketing, product design, and branding, he stated that Nagaland needs creative ideas and entrepreneurship ideas. He went on to add that it was high time that Nagaland and NE cannot be kept at the corner of discussion when discussing the country.
Over 140 students from 12 colleges participated in various competitions of the 12th Zoommax 2022. The competitions included the voice of Zoommax, photography, dance till dawn, face painting, mad-ads, business plan, beat contest, and Mr and Miss Zoomax.
