Kohima, May 3 (EMN): An annual management fest dubbed as “Zoommax Fest,” organised by the School of Management Studies, Nagaland University, is gaining momentum each year as it becomes a practicing ground for what was taught in the classroom.
This year, the School of Management Studies, NU, in association with the National Institute for Civil Services Examination (NICSE) is organising the 12th edition of Zoommax fest, which got underway on Tuesday on the theme 'Ocean of creativity'.
Convener of 12th Zoommax 2022, Kelhoukhrietuo Nagi, in his opening remark, stated that many Zoommax winners in the past years have received recognition and achieved greater heights. He mentioned that the fest was first started in 2009 by the students of Management Studies, and ever since it has become an annual management festival.
He went on to add that Zoommax is a ground for MBA students to put classroom learning into practice and hone management skills through real-time events. It is also a platform to learn and widen the knowledge about various prospects of management as a career. It has now become the largest management fest in the state with a range of over 1000 viewers, he said.
In this year event, over 140 students from 12 colleges would be competing in various events during the two-day event.
Dr. Manoj E Prabhakar, associate professor and HOD of Management department, stated that the fest was to expose the talents of students and to learn new things. He encouraged the participants to take advantage of the platform and project their creativity.
Gracing the occasion as a guest speaker, chairman of Livingstone Foundation International and president of All Nagaland Private Schools' Association, Dimapur unit, Andrew Ahoto Sema, asked students to give back to the society, adding that marks alone are not education but one needs to have creativity.
‘God has given us talents and you have to nurture that. You have to sow the seeds of talents and let the next generation enjoy the fruit. Let your talents not die with you but let it have a ripple effect on others,” he told the gathering.
He also urged them to have a goal, aim, and objectives in life and pursue them with their heart and soul to achieve. He further called upon students to transform and reform Nagaland so that it could at par with the rest of the nations. Saying that pride has overtaken the Naga society, he told the students to stay humble in life.
Chairman and managing director of NICSE and Smartcoach, Suman Saha, said the event is a great opportunity that has come their way. He assured the gathering that NISCE would be there hand-in-hand with the institutions through the year and beyond Zoommax.
The two-day event would feature various competitions such as ‘Voice of Zoommax,’ photography, dance till dawn, face painting, mad-ads, business plan, and beat contest. Besides that, it would also conduct mock interviews, panel discussions. The second day and closing ceremony would be graced by Wetsho Lasushe, EAC of Phek Hq. as a guest of honor.
