
The 4th Open Dance Explosion Competition (Odec) was held in Wokha on Oct. 19.
The event was jointly organised by three brothers namely- Chanbemo Humtsoe, S Aben Ngullie and Sulan A Ezung at Wokha town hall with theme ‘Unveil your dancing skill.’
Zippy Crew won the contest after competing with 13 participants from various places including
Mokokchung, Kohima, Dimapur, Mon including dancers from Assam.
Solo dancer Meyitemsu Naga from Mokokchung won the 1st runner-up title while solo artist Johny Y Kithan from Dimapur won the 2nd runners-up title.
Two individual prizes for best entertainers were shared between Rahul 'litttle Virus' from Assam and Leiwang Konyak from Mon.
The winner of the competition walked away with a certificate and cash award of INR 28,000 while the first and second runners-up received certificates and cash awards of INR 18,000 and INR 8000 respectively. The individual prizes were also awarded with certificates and cash.
The event was enthralled with a special number by Orenthng Ezung and a guest dance artist Nick Thapa. Nick Thapa has won many competitions including Dancing fever S-4, winner of Smoke the Beat S-4 in Guwahati and has also participated in a national level contest 'Dance India Dance S-4' where he went up till top 28.
Yanthanthung Humtsoe, a social activist who graced the occasion as the special guest cited dancing as an art to express one's feelings and emotions. Citing that people who have the ability to dance are looked up, the special guest advised the dancers to be modest with their skills as dance is not only considered as an art but requires discipline and patience.
The panel of judges for the event were Nzanthung Ngullie, founder Trionix Dance Studio Dimapur and Yiben R Humtsoe former convener KYI.
