Parliamentary Secretary for Urban Development Department, Zhaleo Rio inaugurated the public toilets at a brief and simple function in CHC Medziphema today.
The programme was chaired by Seyielhoutuo Keyho while Keviuchülie, pastor, MTBC, invoked God’s blessing and Gohu Vüprü, president, 5 Ghaspani II A/C, delivered a brief report on construction of the multi-utility toilets. In his report, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to Zhaleo Rio, MLA of the constituency, who initiated developmental works under LADP as well as CHC Medziphema and all well-wishers for the cooperation rendered towards its successful completion.
Dr. M.A. Wati, CMO Dimapur also spoke at the function and praised the parliamentary secretary for his deep-rooted and affection, not only for his constituency but also for Nagaland as a whole.
Dosa-u Kuotsu, chairman, Health Care Management Committee (HCMC), CHC Medziphema submitted a memorandum to Rio seeking his intervention for construction of new hospital buildings and residences besides other infrastructures. The jointly appended memorandum stated that the PHC was upgraded to CHC status in 2002 and that the infrastructural upgradation was an urgent necessity, taking into account the large number of villages under Medziphema division including its proximity with NH 29.
Speaking as chief guest, Rio acknowledged the commitment of the state government, public, CHC, Medziphema and his party workers for the accomplished implementation of the particular infrastructural development financed under LADP. He aired that it may be a small step but “it is an important project, especially in the healthcare and sanitation sector”, and that “we must utilize and maintain such facilities with utmost concern and management”. He further urged the house, notably the health department to aid people through available means in creating awareness on good hygienic practices and civic sense, which is a great challenge towards secure healthy lives. Dr, Manyau Phom, SMO, CHC Medziphema pronounced the vote of thanks.
In other inaugural function of GPS building at Ward -9, Peduzha, Medziphema Town, Gohu Vüprü chaired while Arho Niphi Pastor, MTBCC, blessed the gathering with a prayer and Rialie Sirie gave an introductory speech on the school. He lamented that the concerned department was yet to release the whole allocated amount for construction of the GPS building but that they firmly believe they would receive everything soon. He added that the residents had unanimously coordinated and contributed selflessly to sponsor the building construction. An SSA official who spoke on behalf of DEO later authenticated his claim, Dimapur that only 60 percent of the project fund was released till date by the concerned department in Kohima.
Rio, in his speech , was all praise for the colony residents as also the School Management Committee (SMC) who, in spite of disbursed inadequate funds, still managed to complete the building in time. He remarked that it was exemplary of them to have built 5 rooms apart from toilets etc. despite the fact that the said fund was meant for just 3 rooms and to top it, financial crunch due to non-release of required fund. He called upon the people, the teacher and student community to continue with their sacrificial endeavour, which will go a long wait in establishing a reputation of honour. The function concluded with an acknowledgement speech from Miathou Krose.
Later in the day, the Parliamentary Secretary spearheaded a mass social work in Medziphema town assisted by his party workers.
