
Dimapur, Dec. 29 (EMN): Advisor of Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio inaugurated a monolith in recognition of the change of nomenclature from Jharnapani (Khanakhurü) to New Medziphema village, playground rostrum, youth office hall and New Medziphema village council hall on December 29 in the presence of Nikhonyü Kuotsu, chairman of Medziphema village council, and representatives from different neighbouring villages including Chakhroma public leaders.
Speaking as the special guest of the day, Rio lauded the united efforts of the people for bringing about positive change through coordinated and mutual understanding with Medziphema village and urged to continue the legacy for a brighter future, an update from the media secretary of NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC Thejangukho Yalietsu stated.
On the change of nomenclature, he noted that "the change from Jharnapani to New Medziphema may be over traditionally according to customary practices" and urged the leaders to pursue official procedures so that it is recognised by the government in letter and spirit. Rio was optimistic that the change of nomenclature would bring people closer to each other and pave way for more progress and development.
In his address to the youths, Rio challenged them to utilise the newly constructed rostrum and youth office to the optimum and at the same time maintain the properties with dedication and be a role models for others.
Zhaleo, who incidentally has his vote in the particular village, stated that he sanctioned some amount for construction of council hall and rostrum under LADP scheme. He, however, accredited the villagers especially Rokolhu Angami, director of Naagaamii Infratech Pvt. Ltd., for bearing the expenses for the welfare of the village. Rio remarked as to how Rokolhu has been a father not only to the village but even the neighbouring villagers in bringing about developments through the government till date.
On Covid-19, Rio asserted that "the virus is here to stay" and advised everyone to strictly adhere to given guidelines and SOPs which included washing of hands and use of sanitisers, wearing face masks and keeping a distance of 6 feet from others.
The special guest was accompanied by Charlie Sekhose, senior vice president (central) and in-charge of NDPP Dimapur district; Dosau Kuotsu, president of NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC; Keviyanei Tepa, NDPP vice president (central); Shikato Swu, youth secretary of NDPP Dimapur Region; and Heto Dolie, advisor of NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC.
Former CPO president Dosau Kuotsu and the head GB of Medziphema village Sier Kuotsu spoke on the formation of Jharnapani and its subsequent years of foundation.
The inaugural ceremony was chaired by RD Angami, secretary of Jharnapani (Khanakhurü) village council, while Kevilhoukho Kehie, pastor of Baptist Church, Khanakhurü, invoked God's blessing and Mesehol Kweho delivered the vote of thanks.
