Zeme community celebrates Lamsimngi

EMN Dimapur, October 31 The premier festival of the Zeme community ‘Lamsimngi’ was celebrated by the community in Theunuo Park in Meriema under Kohima on Saturday, October 31. A local group called the Benreului Nkwa of Kohima organized the event. “Lamsimngi is the most importance festival celebrated by the Benreume and the significance of the festival is the rekindling of relationship between parents and their married daughters, brothers and sisters, nieces and with the whole community,” a press release from the organizers stated on Saturday. The event was celebrated with great pomp and gaiety showcasing cultural dance, narration of folk tales by elders and traditional songs and ‘traditional games.’ Also, during the event, cash awards were presented to students who excelled in their academic performance, the organizers said.
