DIMAPUR — The Zeliangrong Students Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has appealed to parents and guardians to ensure proper documentation for children below 18 years travelling to other states for education or other purposes.

The union, in a press statement, stated that many parents are sending their children without the required documents, exposing them to risks and violating statutory provisions under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

It urged all parents and guardians to ensure that they obtain proper documents in advance from the Child Welfare Committee, Peren district, as mandated under Section 37 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, before sending their children to other states.

The union said that this documentation is crucial in ensuring the child's safety, security, and legal protection, thereby mitigating any potential risks and facilitating a seamless transition.

It said that failure to comply with the statutory requirements may result in legal consequences, including but not limited to penalties under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and other applicable laws.

“We urge all parents and guardians to take this matter seriously and comply with the necessary procedures to avoid any potential complications and repercussions,” it said, adding that ZSUN is committed to working towards the welfare and well-being of people, especially children, and will continue to espouse their interests with alacrity, in accordance with the law and for the greater good.

It sought the cooperation of all stakeholders in this matter and assured that the organisation will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of children, as per the provisions of the law.
