DIMAPUR, JUNE 21: The Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland has organized a peaceful rally at Peren town on Monday against the backdoor appointment of 16 primary teachers belonging to non-indigenous of Peren district.
ZSUN resolved to stick to their demand till the Education Department fulfilled their demand. The union demanded immediate termination of all 16 primary teachers before July 5 and that the order must be publicized in all local dailies with a copy endorsed to the ZSUN.
Failing to comply with the demand, ZSUN said it will initiate its own course of action as deemed fit and any eventuality arising out of the matter will be the sole responsibility of School Education Department.
ZSUN also demanded immediate conduct of open recruitment on or before August 5 at district level for free and fair participation of all indigenous candidates with DC Peren as chairman, SDEO as member secy and assisted by two representatives each from the School Education Department, ZSUN and Kuki Students’ Organisation, Nagaland. A copy of the result (selected candidates) to be endorsed to the ZSUN and one each to both the representatives of 6th and 7th A/C.
The solidarity speech was delivered by Kuki Inpi, Nagaland spokesperson where he stated,”what is being laid on our plate have been enjoyed by others, for which there might be shortage for our family.’’
ZLR Baudi Finance Secy, Joshua also highlighted that, ”Peren district is blessed with rich flora and fauna and the best place to settle yet, it is unfortunate that random malpractices of snatching the God-given resources bestowed on the district has been carried out by other Non-Zeliangrong and Kukis. Likewise, it is regretted to learn that the appointment of non-indigenous as primary teachers by the Education Department has made a mockery of the district by snatching away the deserving primary teachers employment meant for the indigenous inhabitants of Peren district.’’
Vote of thanks was delivered by ZSUN vice-president Josiah. Later, there was a peaceful march with placards towards SDEO Office where ZSUN officials submitted ultimatum to the authority in-charge as well as to the district commissioner.
