DIMAPUR, JULY 24: Secretary of Tourism and P&AR, Angou I Thou, called upon the Zeliangrong people to love and live for one another and to unite together and work cohesively for stronger community and better tomorrow.
Speaking as a chief guest at the 6th general session of Zeliangrong Baudi Kohima (ZBK) on July 23 at D Block panchayat Hall, Kohima, Thou stated that Zeliangrong community were not backward. She called upon the gathering to compete with the rest of the advanced tribe and also encouraged the younger generation to dedicate oneself and hold prestigious status and bring laurels to the community.
Stating that the community members residing in the state capital were the mirror of the Zeliang community, she encouraged the members to play the role of good citizens and be the asset to the society. She also urged upon the parents to retrospect the actual stand as the pioneers with current prevailing state.
She reminded the gathering that amongst the Nagas, Zeliangrong people were the first MBBS, doctor and headmaster at one point of time and called upon the gathering and parents to retrospect and examine their present status in the society.
Thou also expressed that Zeliangrong people were fortunate to have TR Zeliang as State chief minister out of 60 Legislatures with no opposition. Therefore, she asked the members to keep praising God for his unceasing blessing bestowing upon them.
Further, she advised the union to form advisory board in order to have more transparency and good workmanship amongst the members.
On the occasion, Zeliangrong Baudi also elected new team headed by Kairinpibo Chawang as president, Abuan Kamei as vice president, Kenlum Hemang as general secretary, Pagai as joint secretary, Rutmakbo as information and publicity secretary, Thunbui as cultural secretary, and Achana Kamei as treasurer. The house also nominated three unit council presidents from the Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei community as well as DS Namrei and Keheipeu Sephe as executive members and three auditors.
The constitution of Zeliangrong Baudi Kohima was also released by the chief guest. The chief guest also donated Rs 50.000 towards the fund of Zeliangrong Baudi Kohima.
