Zeliang Students' Union (ZLSU) successfully held its 63rd general
convention-cum-election on December 21 in Ngwalwa village under Peren district.
- An update from the union stated that the event brought
together Zeliang students and leaders to deliberate on issues crucial to the
advancement and identity of the tribe.
- It stated that the additional deputy Commissioner (ADC) of
Peren and guest speaker, Keyirangding Hegui, spoke on protecting and preserving
the Zeliang tribe's identity. He underscored the significance of the tribe's
cultural heritage, language and traditions as fundamental pillars of its
identity.

while embracing modern educational opportunities. He also emphasised the
necessity of safeguarding ancestral land, which serves as both a source of
livelihood and a testament to the tribe's rich history and heritage.

intricately linked to both its land and its culture, asserting that the loss of
either would equate to a diminished sense of self. He maintained that it should
be the responsibility of every Zeliang intellectual to protect the tribe's
heritage while striving for excellence in various domains of life.
