Zeliang inaugurates gravity goods ropeway

Zeliang stated this while addressing the gathering after inauguration of the Gravity Goods Ropeway, Roadside Marketing Shed and Community Development Plan (CDP) at Old Tesen village community hall in Peren district on October 26. The Gravity Goods Ropeway, Marketing Shed and Community Development Plan were promoted by North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) under the Ministry of DoNER and funded by the World Bank. He advised the farmers to work with dedication by saying that their hard work would never go in vain but reap rich dividend. He also cautioned the farmers not to misuse funds provided by the government but utilise them to their advantage in order to help themselves and others. He cited examples of economic boom brought about by the World Bank in Bihar and West Bengal. It may be mentioned that NERLP was conceived while Zeliang was the Rajya Sabha MP along with other MPs from the northeast region. Zeliang explained that NERLP was initiated to deliver livelihood sustenance to rural mass particularly the women and youth of the region by following proper system in economic activities. He encouraged the farmers in Old Tesen to strictly adhered to the new system brought about by NERLP and set a model for others to emulate. Zeliang also urged the officers in the district to identify suitability of climate for cultivation of crop and to assist the farmers for their economic development and progress. Also speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Sentiwapang appealed the community members to maintain the facilities provided by the government with a sense of belonging. He urged them to approach the administration without hesitation saying the door is always opened to them. NERLP state coordinator, M Ringsanbo Zeliang, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the state government particularly former chief minister TR Zeliang for introducing the project in the district for the uplift of rural mass.
