Dimapur, Nov. 27 (EMN): The chief minister of Nagaland as well as the governor has wished the Rengma community on the occasion of Ngada – one of the most important festivals of the Rengma tribe.
Chief Minister TR Zeliang issued a press release, on behalf of the state government, wishing the Rengma community ‘a happy and meaningful Ngada celebration in the best of health and spirit’.
Ngada, the chief minister stated, was celebrated to mark the end of the “agriculture year” and is a festival of feasting, dancing, thanksgiving, merry-making and rejoicing. “As we celebrate Ngada, let the spirit of oneness, reconciliation, forgiveness, peace and harmony prevail.
“May God bestow his abundant blessing upon the Rengma community,” the message read
In a separate statement, Governor PB Acharya greeted the Rengma community on the occasion and called upon the community members to take time and thank Almighty for His unwavering love and blessing throughout the year.
According to a Raj Bhavan statement, Acharya reminded the community to take the responsibility of making sure the various welfare projects and schemes of the central and state governments are made known to the farmers, who provide for us.
“The governor also opined that Ngada should provide opportunities for budding generations and other villagers to display their skills and physical strength. He added that the festival should be a source for building unity and called on all to come together and make the atmosphere conducive in towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and all round development in the state.
“May the festival of Ngada bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Rengma’s in particular and Nagas in general,” the Raj Bhavan statement quoted the governor as saying.
