Zbt to observe Animal Welfare fortnight

Dimapur, Jan. 19: Office of the Chief Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Officer Zunheboto, along with the other districts will be observing the Animal Welfare Fortnight program. In a week-long observance, activities such as issues related to prevention of cruelty to animals, care & management, health care, care during transportation, protection of wild animals & their habitats etc. The department will also organise free vaccination camps for dog and livestock, distribution of dewormer for pigs, vitamins & mineral mixtures for livestock, talks on animal welfare in selected schools and colleges, help initiate formation of animal lovers, kindness groups and clubs, visiting slaughter houses for awareness on humane slaughter of animals. The CVO has sought cooperation from public, institutions and all concerned for the success of the programme.
