Dimapur, Dec 2: The Zeliangrong Baudi Tamenglong, in a statement, said the Naga People’s Front (NPF) tickets for the forthcoming state assembly election 2017 should not issue to the present 20 tribal MLAs.
As per the United Naga Council (UNC) declaration on October 19, 2016, at Tagaramphung (Yaikongpao), Senapati, it said the party ticket should not be issued to three MLAs of Tamenglong including Gaikhangam, Kikhonbou and Janghemlung Panmei to contest in the forthcoming state assembly election 2017.
Media and Publicity of Zeliangrong Baudi Tamenglong has termed the three MLAs ‘anti Naga and anti- tribal leaders.’ It alleged they are signatories to pass the ‘Anti tribal bill’ in the Manipur Assembly. It said they also refused to resign when demanded by the people.
Further, it said that the three MLAs of Tamenglong have been boycotted by UNC/ AMOTF/ ATSUM.
It urged the concerned authority, national workers and leaders of Naga People’s Front to know the facts and not to issue NPF tickets to contest in the forthcoming election. It said that national workers should not support such leaders and give their votes to them.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, it said if the NPF leaders issue tickets to the aforesaid persons to contest in the forthcoming election the Naga People Front (NPF) is ‘Anti Naga political party’.
