Kohima, Dec. 29: Yanthamo Village Students’ Union (YVSU) celebrated its 50th anniversary on December 28 and 29 on the theme “Knowledge Empreinte Ascendancy.” The two-day event was graced by Home Minister, Y Patton, as the chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion, Patton congratulated YVSU for attaining 50 years. He lauded the efforts of the pioneers and all those who have been responsible in leading the union thus far.
On the 50 years celebration, he told the students to not only celebrate through merry making, but told them to observe it knowing the actual meaning of a jubilee.
“Jubilee is time of forgiveness and further to restructure, rebuild and renew ourselves for a better future,” he said.
Reminding the student community about the advancement and the high level of competition that has come with the 21st century, he urged them to deliver their best effort to acquire quality education in order to compete with the rest of the world.
The guest of honour Motsuthung Lotha, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, advised the students to be responsible and work very hard if they wanted to reach the top.
“Hard work is the key to every success and there is no substitute to it,” he said and urged them to strive with determination.
SDEO Meluri, Zayao Lotha, also spoke on the day, while the welcome address was delivered by Khonthungo Kikon, convenor, jubilee planning committee.
Earlier, the chief guest also unveiled the jubilee monolith at YVSU office building, which was dedicated by Rev. Nyanchumo Ezung, Executive Secretary, Lotha Baptist Ekhumkho Sanrutsu.
