DIMAPUR, JANUARY 5
Against the backdrop of the indefinite strike called by the YTC and YAA for non-fulfilment of the three-point charter of demand to be met within the 24-hour ultimatum served to the Chief Minister on January 3, the Yimchungrüs of Tuensang district and Kiphire district came forward to show their solidarity and resentment over the “unconstitutional and infamous” decision of the state cabinet which disallowed the holding of YAA Golden Jubilee at Shamator Town slated from 7 to 10 January 2016. According to YAA, the bandh was imposed in the entire Yimchungrüs’ jurisdiction and witnessed complete shut-down of 24 MW Likhimro Hydro Project, commercial establishments, vehicular movements and blockade of NH 202 falling within the Yimchungrüs’ Jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, YAA has appreciated the “unflinching” support rendered by its federating units and general public for the cause of our rights and also for adhering to the directive of the YAA. Further YAA informed all its federating units and the Yimchungrü general public that the total bandh would continue till the state government accedes to its three-point charter of demand submitted earlier through the ultimatum.
