Dimapur, Aug 13 (EMN): Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, MLA Zale Neikha along with Nagaland Sepaktakraw Association President, Ruokuo Kire and Nagaland Sepaktakraw coach and Secretary NSA, Holshe Khrieo today called on Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to apprise him about two Sepaktakraw players from Nagaland being selected to the Asian Games.
This was stated in a press release received here on Monday.
During the interaction with Chief Minister Rio, who is also the president of Nagaland Olympic Association, at his chamber in Secretariat, Zale apprised him on the selection of Jwensinle Kesen of Phensenyu Village and Puleno Neikha of Viswema village as the player and coach respectively of Indian Sepaktakraw team for the forthcoming 18th Asian Games to be held in Jakarta from Aug. 18 till Sep. 2.
Jwensinle Kesen is a constable in SSB while coach Puleno Neikha is a fixed pay Sepaktakraw instructor under YRS Department Nagaland.
The advisor informed CM that the two Sepaktakraw players from Nagaland were currently in Delhi with the Indian contingent to the Asian Games and would be leaving on Aug. 15 for Jakarta, Indonesia because of which they were unable to be personally present to meet him today.
Meanwhile, interacting with a section of media persons Neikha informed that Rio while lauding the YRS Department and NSA also congratulated the two Naga sportsperson for bringing laurel to the state in general.
He also conveyed his best wishes to the duo to be successful in the ensuing international event and also achieve greater heights in the days to come. Rio also extended an amount of INR 2 lakh as financial support to the duo.
Further, buoyed with the achievement of the duo, Advisor Neikha challenged the Naga sportspersons to be focused on one sports instead of being ‘Jack of all trade and master of none’.
He encouraged the players and teams selected to represent the state in the February-March 2019 National Games to commence rigorous training in order to bring laurel to the state.
