Youth’s body recovered from Dhansiri River

The body of 22-year-old Hampupa Yeptho was recovered from Dhansiri River after drowning while collecting edible snails near Thahekhu Block-7.

DIMAPUR — The body of a 22-year-old youth, identified as Hampupa Yeptho, was recovered from the Dhansiri River near Thahekhu Block-7 on Monday afternoon. He had drowned around 9 am on September 28 while collecting edible snails with his sister.


Rescue efforts by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team were suspended Sunday evening after nightfall hampered the search. Operations resumed Monday morning, and the body was retrieved at 1.55 pm.

On September 28, Hampupa’s sister attempted to save him by extending a stick, but her efforts failed. Following the recovery, the body was handed over to the family.
