DIMAPUR, AUGUST 21: YouthNet team, in collaboration with the State government and under the sponsorship of Mokokchung Entrepreneurs’ Consortium, held an interactive programme with the students of Fazl Ali College on August 19.
The team introduced IMPACT 5000 by 18, a project launched in order to provide entrepreneurship skills and employability to Naga youth.
Lezo Putsure, founder of Smarter Nagaland and chief strategist of Youthnet, spoke on the multiple options that young people have to earn a living and at the same time follow their passion in life.
John Meyase, chief analyst for YouthNet, spoke on the future of Naga youth. Presenting statistics and analysis, he touched upon topics like employment and employability, skill development, career options and most importantly on the dynamics of entrepreneurship.
Drawing illustrations on many young people, who have made it big in the entrepreneurial world, he encouraged a gathering of more than 600 Fazlians to follow their dreams without cowering under societal structures and limitations.
In a separate programme, YouthNet team conducted a two-day programme on entrepreneurship, career awareness, skill building and livelihood for the youth of Zunheboto with the participation of about 2500 people.
The programme was part of IMPACT 5000 by 18 campaign, a five-year joint programme of YouthNet and Government of Nagaland launched in 2013.
The first day was focused on school students on the various streams (Arts, Science and Commerce) connected to various career options. Another group, which comprised of college students, had a session on opportunities in entrepreneurship.
The second day was a workshop for new start up entrepreneurs in Zunheboto and how problems could be look as opportunities from a business acumen point of view. Various skill development programmes such as mobile phone repair, bamboo making, fashion design and job openings in retail, automobiles were shared with the drop outs/ unemployed youth as well as various job opportunities available in Nagaland.
The IMPACT 5000 by 18 district tour would reach out to about thousands of young across all 11 districts. YouthNet, through their young ambassadors, would also advocate with the local communities to advocate for clean and fair election which is the epicenter for any progress and development of the State. The programme in Zunheboto was supported by local partners ZTYO, Society of Aborigines, Green Club, SKK, ZTSU, and ZCCI.
