Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): Acumen Global gathering held in Nairobi, Africa, brought together young impact leaders, organisations, funders from across 32 countries attended and participated in workshops and sessions.
Some eminent speakers included Chris Anderso, founder of Ted Talks; Ned Tuzon, CEO of D Light GE Africa; CEO of MasterCard, Royal Dutch Shell; Africa Lead - Ford Foundation, and more. The gathering brought 400 people which included funders, impact leaders, CEOs and organisations that work on social impact.YouthNet, in partnership with Godrej CSR, also conducted a workshop on development. The workshop was conducted by Lezo Putsure, Director YouthNet. The topic focused on how organisations need to look deeper into the root causes of the problems rather than bringing quick fix solutions.
The workshop stressed that after effects of development must be human centric by building systems without which development can also lead to loss of identity, culture, ecology and exploitation. IDeo- a global design company that specialize in human factors, psychology, business, and development design were also a part of the workshop.
Designed to stimulate intellects, forge relationships and challenge assumptions, the Acumen Global gathering brought together the experience and wisdom from some of today’s most dynamic and creative entrepreneurs and emerging leaders with select partners and leaders from business and civil society with the goal of building and strengthening a diverse global network committed to solving the toughest issues of our time.
The three-day gathering included specific talks focused on where markets succeed and fail to bring critical goods to the poor, partnerships, key lessons around specific sectors (energy, agriculture, water), fighting corruption, crossing lines of difference, building businesses for the poor in post-conflict zones, and more. It also included a fair amount of values-driven work, a mix of storytelling, adaptive leadership exercises and “Good Society” discussion sessions.
Nagaland was represented by Acumen Fellows Lezo Putsure and Shiroy Lily Shaiza, Programme Manager of Entrepreneurs Associates.
