Youth urged to preserve culture

Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): Drawing similarity between culture and identity, Inspector General of Police (CID) Nagaland Richard Yimto, has urged upon the youths to uphold and preserve culture and traditional values. Speaking as theme speaker on the first day of the two-day cultural fest programme organised by Yimchungrü Baptist Borü Chumukedima (YBBC) youth department on  July 14 and 15th on the theme ‘My culture, my identity,’ Yimto pointed out that lost of culture is the lost of identity. He asserted that “without culture we cannot claim our identity.” He further urged upon the youths to conserve culture and traditions. Highlights of the two-day cultural fest programme included presentation of ‘Berupuhru jimtsah wukhi khun’ by 7th Mile colony cell youth; ‘Alaru khun’ by church colony cell group; ‘Berupuhru ki neak de bin khi khun’ by Kikhruruzha colony cell group; and ‘Khiungmongru mushi jih khun’ by Dieze colony cell group. The importance and significance of culture and tradition was delivered by associate youth pastor K Ningtsa.
