Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): A Kohima based organisation called the Coming Generation has conducted two days workshop program of ‘Nagaland says no to plastic’, a campaign undertaken by them on July 27 and 28th in Kohima. Updates on Monday informed. During the two days program, training was jointly given to women and youth from Lower Jail and Merhülietsa colony in Kohima. The training includes, how to make paper or cloth bags from materials which are available at homes or which can be prepared from low cost. The same session was given at Kripa Foundation Rehab centre at High School colony on the following day.
According to the organisation, plastic pollution is causing a threat to the environment and it is time that every individual living and breathing on this earth should take the responsibility of protecting it. The campaign objective was to spread this awareness to individual of all aspects so that change will start from young, old, men and women.
The participants in the training were encouraged to refuse plastic bags as much as possible and to promote use of biodegradable bags. The workshops intend to impart the participant the skill of making paper and cloth bags so that it can also help them to contribute in making Nagaland a plastic free zone state, the press release added.
