- KOHIMA — Former
member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA), Medo Yhokha, on Saturday
stressed on the importance of working together towards a progressive society.
- Speaking at the platinum jubilee of Makhuma Youth
Organisation (MYO) in Kigwema village under Kohima district, Yhokha said the
way forward to a progressive society lies in the shared vision of the young and
upcoming generation along with the guidance of the elders and leaders.
- He stressed on the significance of looking at a future
through working together towards building an environment by investing on
quality education or creating self reliant economic avenues starting now. He
called upon the gathering to start planting the seeds today so that it would
bear fruit for posterity and sustenance.
- He added that it is in the hands of the people to be
trendsetters and pathfinders in the field of religion, leadership, economy,
education, entrepreneurship among others.
- Speaking on the importance of celebrating jubilees, he said
the significance lies in showing respect and honouring elders and pioneers
behind such inception. He also laid emphasis on remembering and honouring the
pioneers and to learn from the past mistakes and move ahead.
- The speaker also cautioned the people not boast too much
about past glorious and appealed to the youth to think of how they could keep
the legacies alive.
- Other highlights included song presentations by Makhuma
choir, Makhuma women society and Shürhovizo Kiso.
