Dimapur, April 1 (EMN): A group called the ‘Project 3E Space’ of the nongovernmental group CAN Youth organized on March 30 a workshop on personality and communication skills. The workshop was conducted for unemployed youths, and adolescents of Darogajan village in Dimapur.
The CAN Youth issued a press release on Monday informing about the event.
The workshop was stated to have taught about etiquettes, grooming, communication and personality skills.
Project officer Faihamti Longmailai taught the youths about personality and communication skills, the press release explained.
‘The workshop not only provided sessions as theoretical but also conducted sessions based on the workshop topic through activities in order to create a space for the youths and adolescents with the help of three BSW (Bachelor’s in social work) interns from Don Bosco, Maram,’ the organisation informed.
Kivitoli Chishi, a ‘program facilitator’ of CAN Youth moderated the sessions for personality skills. She spoke about body language, and interview and telephone etiquettes to the participants, the updates stated. This was done through an activity ‘to bring an active environment among the participants and facilitators,’ CAN Youth stated.
“The participants actively participated in all the activities conducted by the team, the workshop program concluded with an interactive sessions and action plan for their career,” the updates stated.
‘Project 3E Space’ is a group that works on creating opportunity for unemployed youths and dropouts on education, employability and entrepreneurship, the press release stated.
Anti-tobacco advocacy
The CAN Youth also organized another programme, this one an advocacy about the harmful effects of tobacco. The updates stated that the event was conducted in collaboration with the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP).
Dr. Tetseo of the NTCP was a resource person for the programme which was conducted on March 30 at Darogajan village in Dimapur, the group stated. A total 25 participants, including adolescents and youths, attended the programme. In order to involve the adolescents, the organisers educated them about cause and effect, prevention; preparing action to prepare a strategic plan and achieving the goal by ‘educating themselves.’
“The whole process is to educate the young mindset of the society and also to overcome any situation they encounter,” the updates stated.
Dr. Tetseo, district nodal officer of the NTCP, spoke about how people are suffering from different cancers and internal disorders after consistently consuming tobacco. The medical officer mentioned that Nagaland also falls in one of the states with some of the highest rates of tobacco consumption which is becoming a serious threat against young people.
During the programme, the adolescents were given a space to discuss among their peers about what they observe in people who consume tobacco. They discussed planning a strategy to prevent them from consuming tobacco, the updates stated.
