Dimapur, June 16: The Assam Rifles and the Nagaland unit of the Young Indians (YI) have announced a youth Olympiad for colleges of Dimapur and adjoining areas on June 17 and the 18th at the State Stadium in Dimapur.
The competition is an athletic meet for the collegiate aimed at providing a platform for youth to showcase their sporting talents. The athletic meet has track and field events for both boys and girls. Altogether 15 colleges in Dimapur and adjoining areas have confirmed their participation in the event.
Young Indians and the Assam Rifles had on several occasions collaborated in the past to promote sports and adventure activities among youths of Nagaland. The Parliamentary Secretary for Labour, Employment and Skill Development Mmhonlumo Kikon has consented to be the chief guest for the valedictory event at 2:30 pm. The Commander of 6-sector of the Assam Rifles, Brigadier Brijesh Dhiman, would also attend the occasion.
