Dimapur, May 14 (EMN): Peace Channel has organised a one-day capacity building programme at Brighter High School in Wokha on May 10 and Springdale School in Wokha on May 12.
A press release from the peace channel desk on Monday informed that the progammes were conducted in the schools on the topic “Dialogue for peace and mediation.”
According to the press release, the programmes were conducted with the objectives to empower the students about the skills needed for peace building and also to give the students an opportunity to resolve conflict by themselves through dialogue process.
In the updates, peace activist Patrick W Tungoe, in his address, stated that mediation and dialogue are the most effective and the cheapest tools for preventing and resolving conflict and societal transformation. Tungoe stated that youth could play a major role in peace building process by intervening in conflict situations as a third neutral party and thereby resolving the issues between the conflicting parties.
He added that dialogue could defuse tension and keep the conflict situation from escalating and help promote reconciliation.
Tungoe further encouraged the students to practice and promote peace in their families, peer groups, and institutions through dialogue and mediation to promote long term stability and justice.
Altogether 36 students from Brighter High School and 39 students from Springdale School participated in the programmes. The highlights of programmes included input session, role play, group discussion, and sharing and learning session.
