Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): Youth festival ‘Powwow 2019’ got underway at Tetso College on March 7 with Limasunep Jamir, commissioner of police launching the fest. A total of 28 schools and colleges are participating.
‘Powwow’ is an annual youth festival with an aim to bring students from various institutes in India together, interact, compete and showcase talent in various fields that will empower them towards lifelong excellence.
The ‘Powwow signature launch’ was signed by the Tetso College’s principal, Dr. PS Lorin, and Limasunep Jamir followed by the oath taking.
Limasunep Jamir encouraged the students to participate, engage and learn through the festival.
Director of Tetso College, Kvulo Lorin, welcomed and thanked the title sponsor of the event ALS, including all the other sponsors and participating colleges for bringing everyone together. Other sponsors are India Trail, Kalinga University, NIIT, DOT Talks, Aiko Arena,
Ashok Leyland, Baskin Robbins, Brand New Days, Camp David, Favours, Fusion, Fun Cinemas, G Sports, Ilandlo, Kaziranga University, Mountain Music Academy, Nagaland Today, The People Channel, Rusoki, SmartLife Gym, Synergy Systems, Tinted Lights, Universal Power Solutions and Youthnet.
Day one of the festival kicked off with the traditional dance competition that brought to life both tradition and creativity followed by Cosplay. In the extempore speech, students were tested on their knowledge as they spoke on a range of topics that included the ‘Indo-Naga political issue,’ ‘If I were the chief minister of Nagaland,’ ‘Being the change,’ ‘reservation and other issues on society, entertainment and education.’
On social media, students began competing in the selfie challenge via instagram Tetso College page.
In sports and gaming, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, mobile legends and Pub G are all off to a great start to continue on into March 8 and 9 as colleges and schools compete to decide who takes home the overall championship trophy of Powwow 2019.
Closing award ceremony has been is scheduled on March 9 at 2 pm with Kevekha Kevin Zehol, deputy commissioner, Dimapur, as the guest of honour.
