Dimapur, August 31 (EMN): District Youth Convention 2017-18, under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, got underway on August 31 at the Youth Hostel, Dimapur.
EAC, Rongsenmenla, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, felt the need for equal participation of the youth for a nation or society to grow.
“In today’s time and age, a youth is expected to have wider perspective so that it enables one to explore possibilities, avenues and exploit their potentials and capabilities to the fullest,” she maintained. She further observed that the youth of today ought to play proactive role in rebuilding the society and also be an agent of positive change.
The young administrative officer also encouraged the youth to change mindset of depending only on the government for employment but make paradigm shift from government to private sector and to equip oneself with various skills for self-reliance and sustenance.
Meribeni Patton and Young People Fellowship presented special numbers during the programme. State Director NYK delivered the keynote address, while Associate Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur (LBCD), ThenjamoTsanglao, exhorted the gathering.
