The Jalukie ‘B’ Village Youth Organisation has condemned the reported presence of unidentified armed persons near a resident’s home and urged a thorough investigation.
DIMAPUR — The Jalukie ‘B’ Village Youth Organisation (JBYO) has expressed concern and condemned the reported presence of unidentified armed persons near the residence of R John Zeliang in Jalukie ‘B’ village, Peren district, during late-night hours.
In a statement, the organisation said the reported presence of persons carrying firearms near a civilian residence had caused concern among the family, neighbours and the wider community.
The JBYO urged the police and district administration to conduct a fair and thorough investigation to establish the facts and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
The organisation said any act of intimidation, coercion or threat against residents would not be tolerated, irrespective of the affiliation or influence of those involved. It maintained that such incidents undermine peace, unity and security in the village.
It also cautioned those responsible, or contemplating similar acts, to desist from such activities.
At the same time, the youth body appealed to residents to remain calm and refrain from speculation or spreading unverified information.
It urged the public to cooperate with the investigating agencies and allow due process to take its course.
The organisation expressed solidarity with Zeliang and his family and reaffirmed its commitment to the peace and security of the village.
