The Southern Angami Youth Organisation has urged NHIDCL to immediately commence restoration work on the landslide-affected road at Phesama Village.
DIMAPUR — The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) has urged the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to immediately commence restoration work on the landslide-affected road at Phesama village.
In a press release, the organisation stated that a SAYO team visited the affected area in the early hours of September 9 and expressed concern over the absence of restoration work despite the prolonged disruption caused by the landslide.
It organisation stated that the affected road is a vital lifeline for Southern Angami villages and a major connectivity route between Nagaland and neighbouring Manipur.
The continued disruption has caused inconvenience to daily commuters and affected the movement of essential goods and services.

During the visit, SAYO consulted the Phesama Village Council and Phesama Youth Organisation (PYO), who raised concerns over the lack of coordination among NHIDCL, government authorities and village authorities.
The PYO president also highlighted the risks posed by the temporary bypass, which carries thousands of vehicles daily. The steep and rocky terrain becomes particularly hazardous during heavy rainfall, raising concerns over public safety.
SAYO appreciated the Phesama Village Council, PYO and the people of Phesama for their continued support and service to commuters during the disruption.
The organisation called on NHIDCL to take all necessary measures to restore safe and normal connectivity at the earliest. It also assured its full cooperation and assistance in facilitating and expediting the restoration process.
