Kohima, Jan. 2 (EMN): President of Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO), Dzuvi-u Zhunyu has urged the youth to be disciplined and utilise their talents for the uplift of the society as a whole.
Zhunyu said this while addressing the 44th Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) sports meet cum Youth Day held at Kiruphema local ground comprising of seven different age groups as the special invitee.
Stating that the tournament was observed with the objective to promote young talents for future and to bring unity within the people of Kiruphema and outside, Zhunyu urged the youth to be disciplined and utilise their talents for the uplift of the society as a whole.
Expressing happiness over the participation of all different age groups to the 44th edition he said, “All players has added flavour to the tournament and portray a positive image of KYO amongst the sports fraternity.” Zhunyu, who is also a former president of KYO, complimented KYO for attaining 44th glorious years.
Altogether, 426 players from seven different age groups have participated in the tournament this year with a total of 12 teams in football (men) and 21 teams in volleyball (men and women).
In men’s football, Kezie club emerged the champion in football by overcoming the defending champion Kezevi club through a tie-break after a stipulated time. In volleyball (men and women), Kezekevi club and Nourhe club emerged the champion respectively.
Meanwhile, to mark the day, an exhibition football match was played between the veteran FC and the KYO executive council where the veteran FC won the match with 4-0.
Earlier at the meet, pastor of CRC Peducha pronounced the invocation, while KYO choir presented a special number and Thekruneikho Hesielie delivered the vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, the organisers have expressed gratitude to all sponsors, match patrons, participating teams, fans, medical team and well-wishers for their support and cooperation.
The meet also witnessed Kezevilie Hojha elected as the new president, who will lead the Kiruphema Youth Organisation for 2019-2021.
