Dimapur, Dec. 29 (EMN): Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mokokchung, has conducted an awareness programme on “Youth empowerment on New India” at library hall in Mongsenyimti village under Chuchuyamlang block on December 5.
Government of India has envisioned building a new India by providing opportunity to the youth to discover their potentials and become stakeholders in development process.
Addressing the youth, John Makhabo, DYC, NYK, Mokokchung, has highlighted on the aims and objectives of youth empowerment for New India. He categorically stated that every youth should start entrepreneurship so that they become professional in their respective fields they undertake.
He said that the programme was conducted with the objective to help young people translate knowledge, develop appropriate attitudes and inculcate values that would help them become effective entrepreneurs and to develop the community.
He also made a power points presentation on the achievements of youth from north eastern states and spoke on Forbes list of great entrepreneurs of the present time.
Sanen, programme coordinator of youth with a mission, took sessions on effective communication skills and building self- esteem. He called upon the youth to be leader with effective communication skills saying one has to be a good teacher working with the community.
In a related programme, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Longleng, also organised a programme on “Youth empowerment programme for New India” with special focus on entrepreneurship in Hamlikong village under Longleng district on December 6.
Ms M Lithei Nyam, social worker and resource person, spoke on the responsibility of youth towards their own life and contribute positively towards the welfare of the society. She also spoke on how youth could venture into small enterprises and start developing themselves in order to be financially stable.
She also encouraged the youth to build up confidence by involving in various activities which would further help them to contribute in community building in particular and the nation in general.
Longleng being known for handicraft, she urged the people to utilise the rich resources which are locally available and build a good network with other places.
Various clubs and SHGs from the village attended the awareness programme.
