Kohima, Oct. 6 (EMN): Pointing out that youth have the potential to bring about change in the society, the president of Kohima Chakhesang Youth Organisations (KCYO), Vevoyi D Vadeo, has urged the youth to engage in socio-political process responsibly.
Vadeo stated this during the inter-unit literary competition organised by five student units of Chizami area, a conglomeration of Chizami Students’ Union (CSU), Chizami Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (CTCSU), Mesulumi Students’ Union (MSU), Enhulumi Students’ Union (EYP) and Sumi Students’ Union (SSU) held on October 4 at Goyiepra Memorial Government High School in Chizami.
An update from the organisers informed that Vadeo laid emphasis on the importance of promoting the youth/students and recognising their unique resources so as to bring innovative solutions for development of the community. He viewed that youth could champion for development and change in communities and society.
He stated that the present youth are "already leaders" now and not "future leaders." In this regard, he urged the young people to engage in formal socio-political process and participate more responsibly.
He also advised the youngsters to maintain unity, which according to him, is the greatest weapon and strength in order to surmount the many challenges and accomplish the goals. He further added that the development of the people and area would depend on their spirit to foster unity.
