
Dimapur, Mar. 1 (EMN): Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Chukitong, Echungbemo Erui has urged active participation of the youth towards conserving the rich cultural heritage of the forefathers.
Speaking as the special guest at the district youth convention and cultural programme organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) at Town Hall Wokha, Erui lamented the ignorance and indifference of the present generation towards conserving the rich heritage and culture. He also advised the youth to serve the society with an honest heart if they wish to see the society develop or grow.
Erui also gave away sports materials to NYK affiliated youth clubs.
Meribeni Patton, NYV, also exhorted the youth leaders on the importance of their participation and cooperation in developmental programmes.
In a keynote address, John Makhabo, DYC, NYK, Kohima, stated that NYKS is the largest grassroots organisation in the world with 1.5 lakhs youth clubs. Highlighting the essence of leadership quality through a powerpoint presentation, Makhabo stated that an ideal leader serve the public, visionary and bring hope to the people, share resources to the people, take up what is affecting to the common mass etc.
Cultural items were presented by Hungjandaren youth club, Pangti village students, and Yingaren youth club. About 100 persons from various youth clubs attended the programme.
