The Young Talented Artistes Award ceremony for the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 was held at the Raj Bhavan, Itanagar August 25, 2017. The award ceremony was organised by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Ministry of Culture.
As desired by the Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and Chairman, NEZCC the function was held at Itanagar, with an aim that such functions will be held in rotation in every member states of the NEZCC.
The function featured performance and exhibition by the awardees. The awards were given away by P.B Acharya. The function was attended Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker T. N. Thongdok , Minister, Art & Culture Dr. Mohesh Chai, Chief Secretary Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and other dignitaries.
Young Talented Artistes Awards Scheme was introduced in 2003-04 by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India to encourage and recognize young talents in various folk art forms in different regions of the country.
The award consists of Rs.10, 000/- and a certificate. Under this scheme the NEZCC invites applications from young talented artistes to give the awards in recognition of his/her outstanding performance/achievements in his/ her chosen field every year.
The focus discipline of the awards are folk dance, folk music & songs, classical dance like Sattriya dance of Assam, Manipuri Classical dances, folk theatre, creative arts/painting, etc. in the age group of 18 to 30 years.
The winners from Nagaland are Ariensa (Nagaland Theatre), Mannyei Konyak (Nagaland Wood & Stone Sculpture, Carpentry works, Painting & Sketching) and Limanungdang Ao (Nagaland Theatre)
