Dimapur, August 22 (EMN): Highlighting the two major issues that young people face-one being attitude problem and the other lack of information on skill trainings, secretary of Youth Ministry WSBAK, Rev. Aheto Sema said young people need to be trained to cultivate right attitude towards work.
Addressing the inauguration programme of the skill training for unemployed youth Batch 22 at Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre, on August 21, he reminded the trainees that hard work and self-discipline are required for success and added that there is no short cut to success.
Rev. Aheto said one of the main factors that many youths are not able pursue higher studies is financial constraints. He also said some major concerns that affect today’s youth are lack of skill, proper purpose in life, meaning in life.
“I have realised that we need to utilize the young people’s energy by giving proper skill training. It is so interesting and exciting to work with young people,” Rev. Aheto added.
Fr. C.T Varghese, rector of Don Bosco Dimapur told the trainees that apart from their skill training they need value of honesty, hard work, integrity, appreciation and respect in the society to move on.
Esther Lakra, MIS Don Bosco Tech Dimapur region, shared on the work of Don Bosco Tech in India and in Dimapur region. She informed that the Salesian province of Dimapur comprising of the States of Assam (Upper), Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh will train 35000 youth from rural areas by 2022. She also informed that Don Bosco Tech in Dimapur region has trained 9636 young people and gave placement to 6932 of them.
It may be mentioned that Don Bosco Tech has received the following awards in 2017: Best Performing Project Implementing Agency of DDU-GKY by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, Best Performing Training Partner of DDU-GKY by Kudumbasree, Kerala and Best NGO – SkillDevelopment (Gold), 2016-17 by ASSOCHAM.
Other highlights of the programme included, life testimony by Rebenthung, Sumi and Angami folk dances, Nepali and Angami folk songs were performed by trainees.
Bath 22 of skill training for unemployed youth of Nagaland started on July 24 with 86 trainees from 13 different tribes of Northeast. Training is being imparted in domains such as hospitality-food and beverage service, hospitality-hairdressing and hospitality-beauty and wellness.
