Dimapur, March 25 (EMN): Nagaland University Evangelical Union (NUEU) and Kohima Law College Evangelical Union (KLCEU) conducted a get-together service with social activist Adv. Kezhokhoto Savi as the speaker at Nagaland University, Meriema, Kohima Campus on March 22.
While addressing the university students, Savi called upon the youth to love righteousness, integrity, dignity and honesty; work hard and respect in order to heal the society. He said that young people have been used both to save and to destroy nation, informed an update from KLCEU president Alibo Yepthomi.
While stating that ‘election is a spiritual issue’ as a Christian, he spoke on the responsibility of Christian youth by citing a scripture from 1 Timothy 4:12 – “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers as example in speech, in conducts, in love, in faith, in purity.”
People watch us as Christians and it is important to be always on guard and remember that you carry the name of Christ on your shoulders - watch your thought, they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; and watch your character it becomes your destiny, he said at the event.
Savi shared the challenging life testimonies of Billy Graham, Rick Warren and Benny Hym. He said that Graham used to conduct evangelistic services in the college premises during his college days; lying prostrate on the floor, pleading and crying for revival: “Lord, all I want to do is save souls.” Young people today are living in an insecure world; sometimes they follow fashion at the expense of integrity, he added.
He told the gathering that “only Jesus Christ can give them the security they are looking for; without God as the centre of life, they will become confused and insecure. Following Christ is not easy yet there is happiness in the Christian life. You will find contentment in following Christ.”
‘Rich Warren the author of “Purpose Driven Life” in a nutshell said that the purpose of life is preparation for eternity. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity; we were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn’t going to make sense. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that’s not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character Christ-likeness,’ said Savi.
He also had some words for those who love their land and people by citing 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
The event was attended by the students of NU and KLC, EU advisors, professors, UESI staff, officials of Kohima Collegiate Evangelical Union. KLCEU led the praise and worship while its president Alibo shared her testimony during the service.
