Vipito Swu is CSK student of the year 2014

Charity School Kohima (CSK), for the first time in its curriculum, organized the “Student of the year 2014” title hunt, for which the awards ceremony was held today.The awards ceremony was graced by Rovihulie Angami, joint director of School Education and Dr. Helena Belho, administrator of Charity School Kohima and member, Consumer Forum Nagaland as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The initiative, which is the first of its kind introduced by any school in the State, was held under the theme “You can be a world changer”. The idea and vision behind the competition was to mould and help in shaping the next generation leaders.
Altogether 30 students from standard eight to ten of CSK participated in the programme, wherein Vipito V Swu of Class 10 emerged as the winner. The 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up and 3rd runner-up were bagged by AD Rayza of Class 8, Mhalesenu Sophie of Class 9 and Vesiilu of Class 10.
The “Student of the year 2014” will be entitled with one year scholarship of free admission, free books, free school/tuition fee, schoolt-shirt and free marketing at Bible House Kohima to the extend of Rs 2000. He also walked away with a trophy.
The 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up and third runner-up will be entitled with free six months school fee and free library books upto Rs. 1000. Sharing on the concept of the competition, Programme Director of the “Student of the year 2014”, Avilie Dzüvichü, informed that the criterion of the title was not only based on performance alone.
“The behaviors and characters of the students were also closely observed and discussed. The students were judged basing on their overall performances and all round development and the progress they have made throughout the year,” Dzüvichü said while expressing his confidence that the Naga society will reap the rewards and benefits of the upcoming young generation leaders.
The chief guest Rovihulie Angami in his address, while encouraging the students, stressed on the importance of maintaining a healthy character in order to be a world changer.
“You don’t need to be a six footer to be a world changer, nor all world changers need not necessarily be six footers; but it depends on one’s determination and commitment,” R Angami said. “You need to change yourself first,” he added.
The guest of honour Dr. Helena Belho underscored the mantra of “simple living with high thinking”. Referring to the life of Mother Teresa, she urged the students “not to serve people for money but with love for service to humanity.” Earlier, the programme commenced with the invocation pronounced by Candy, while Mezanuo, finalist Gospel Voice Hunt 2014, Vipito Swu and Kelevituo Yongo also presented special songs. The vote of thanks was tendered by K Sebastian Rolnu, headmaster CSK.
