Parliamentary Secretary of CAWD, YM Yollow Konyak, formally inaugurated the Yalam Wangheang (Morung) in Tanhai village under Mon district as the chief guest on April 6.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest encouraged the people of Tanhai village to take advantage of the good geographical location which includes good road connectivity, availability of water supply, and regular supply of electricity. He particularly emphasised upon making good use of developmental activities of the government.
While strongly discouraging the evils of society such as alcoholism and drug abuse especially among the youth, he advocated towards transforming oneself as no other external factors could change one’s evil practice.
The programme was chaired by H Leiwang, teacher of GMS Tanhai, while the invocation prayer was said by L Thanglong, home evangelist of Tanhai Baptist Church, and welcome speech by M Thohpong, Morung Angh. Short speeches were delivered by Y Nyangpong, joint secretary of Irrigation and Flood Control, and other invited guests. Folk songs were also presented by various groups and gifts were presented by K Bonwang, Angh of Tanhai village.
The programme concluded with a closing prayer by P Wangpong, pastor of Tanhai Baptist Church, followed by Morung feast. The entire programme was recorded by Er. K Tingten Konyak.
